Yesterday, 3 June 2025, MTN Cameroon  officially launched the 2025 edition of 21 Days of Y’ello Care, the company’s flagship employee volunteering programme, during a ceremony held at MTN Y’ello House in Douala.

This year’s campaign, themed “Connecting at the Roots – Connecting Communities through Digital Tools,” will run from 1 to 21 June 2025, with a strong focus on promoting digital inclusion and empowerment across the country.

At the heart of this year’s campaign is the Y’ello Digital Centers initiative, which will see the construction of 12 modern digital hubs across the 10 regions of Cameroon. These centres are designed to provide underserved communities with access to digital tools, training, and connectivity, creating opportunities for education, entrepreneurship, and innovation.

The 2025 edition is marked by an unprecedented level of community engagement. MTN Cameroon received 157 project submissions from across all 10 regions of the country. A panel of experts shortlisted 36 projects, and over 200,000 Cameroonians participated in a public vote to select the final beneficiaries.

MTN Cameroon is proud to announce the 12 communities selected to host the Y’ello Digital Centers:

Adamawa: Collège Shekina – Ngaoundéré

Center: Collège Agricole Bullier – Sa’a

East: Association DADE KAOLE – Lomié

Far North : Complexe Culturel Communautaire de Kolara (C3K) – Maroua

Littoral: Centre Jeunes JVEPI FOMAK – Ngambé

North : APND Environnement – Garoua

North-West: BINDECA – Binka Nkambe

West: Commune de Babadjou

South: Lycée de Nkoumadjap

South-West: Aura Foundation – Limbe

Yaoundé: Open Dreams – Obili

Douala : Collège Emilie Saker – Akwa Bonamouti

The digital divide is not merely a technological issue. It is a social and economic challenge. This year’s Y’ello Care initiative is our response to that challenge, grounded in care, collaboration, and long-term impact. Through the Digital Centers initiative, MTN Cameroon volunteers are working hand-in-hand with local partners and communities to deliver practical solutions that address real needs, particularly in areas where connectivity remains limited,” declared Wanda Matandela, CEO of MTN Cameroon.

At MTN Cameroon, we are driven that everyone deserves the benefits of a modern connected life. This belief has guided our actions for over two decades. The initiative which we are launching today is a powerful expression of that belief. By establishing Digital Centers in these communities, we are not only providing access to technology. We are empowering communities at the grassroots level and ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital age.” added Melvin Akam, General Manager, Regulatory and Corporate Affairs at MTN Cameroon.

The Digital Centers initiative is a continuation of MTN Cameroon’s long-standing commitment to digital inclusion. To date, the company has built over 70 digital infrastructures across the country. A recent example is the digital learning classroom in Bilonguè, constructed and equipped during Y’ello Care 2024, which has already enhanced digital skills among students and teachers.

Now in its 18th year, 21 Days of Y’ello Care is MTN Group’s flagship employee volunteering initiative, encouraging staff to dedicate their time, expertise, and energy to drive positive social change. The campaign reflects MTN’s purpose of enabling the benefits of a modern connected life for everyone.
